About Us
Our story
Founded by a psychiatrist, Dr. Martin Forsberg MD, and a counselor, Eric Warden LPC, - when Eric noticed some of his clients with PTSD were getting better much faster. He wondered why some clients progressed through treatment in months, whereas others remained stuck for years, with little to no progress. These clients were able to process their trauma without experiencing flashbacks or nightmares, leading to quicker symptom relief and a faster return to life as usual. When reviewing the medications of those getting better, he noticed a pattern. Those getting better, faster, were on a common medication, prazosin.
Realizing the impact of this medication for PTSD nightmares, Eric reached out to Martin to share his observations. Martin explained that he had been prescribing prazosin with great results for many years. Eric and Martin went on to treat hundreds of shared client’s in the community before deciding to create PTSD Rx, an online practice aimed at raising awareness and increasing access to this life changing treatment. Their specialized approach uses evidence-based medications to stop PTSD nightmares and flashbacks, helping to restore sleep, function and mood. Their partnership led to the creation of the first ever practice dedicated to treating nightmares and flashbacks with medication. Martin and Eric are grateful for the chance to help people reclaim their lives with effective and easily accessible care.
It can be difficult to find a provider who is aware of the use for these medications and has experience prescribing and adjusting the dose. We have clear evidence that the medication works and that the side effects are mild and manageable. We have been prescribing prazosin for over a decade.

Insurance
We're in-network with most major insurance plans for patients in New Jersey:
Aetna
Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield
Cigna
Carelon Behavioral Health
Quest Behavioral Health
If you have one of these plans, your out-of-pocket cost will typically be a copay set by your insurance — often significantly less than our self-pay rate.
What to do before your visit
Insurance plans vary widely, even within the same company. Before your first appointment, we recommend calling the member services number on the back of your insurance card and asking:
Is Dr. Martin Forsberg, MD an in-network provider with my plan?
What is my copay or coinsurance for an outpatient psychiatric visit (CPT 90792 for the initial evaluation, 99213 + 90833 for follow-ups)?
Have I met my deductible for the year?
This 5-minute call prevents surprises and tells you exactly what you'll owe.
Don't see your insurance? Or out of state?
We currently see patients in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina. If you're in PA or NC, or your NJ insurance isn't on the list above, you'll pay our self-pay rate at the time of service:
Initial evaluation: $300
Follow-up visits: $150
We'll provide a superbill after each visit — an itemized receipt with the diagnosis and procedure codes your insurance needs. You can submit it to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement amounts vary by plan; many cover 50-80% of the visit cost after your out-of-network deductible is met.
Veterans
We're an in-network provider with The Headstrong Project, a nonprofit that connects veterans, service members, and family members connected to their care with confidential mental health treatment — regardless of discharge status. If you're working with a Headstrong therapist and they think medication might help, ask about a referral to PTSD Rx.
Good Faith Estimate
If you don't have insurance, or you're not using insurance to pay for your care, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of what your treatment will cost before your appointment. This is required under the federal No Surprises Act. Email hello@ptsdrx.org or call (732) 997-0047 to request one.
